[RECAP] From inner light to exhibition: the 6th Sense journey
Over five masterclass sessions this autumn, ten young participants explored photography not as a technical skill, but as a tool for self-discovery.
Under the mentorship of Lorna Kijurko, the “6th Sense” workshops moved away from classical technical approaches and focused on sensory awareness – learning to “see” with the heart, not just the eyes.
Through intuitive and experiential exercises and field work, participants learned to observe their own feelings and the world around them in new ways, developing their personal rhythm of creation and building trust in their own intuition. The sessions became a space of openness rather than critique, built on sharing, listening, and discovering each participant’s individual creative voice. The result: a body of photographic work carrying personal signatures and intimate stories, soon to be presented to the public. See the closing exhibition announcement
The project “Sixth Sense” is carried out with the financial support of the Region of Istria, organized by Association Sonda, under the professional guidance of Lorna Kijurko who describes the experience like this:
“In a world that often rushes and pulls our attention outward, “6th Sense” invites us to turn toward the light within. It is a way of seeing beyond the surface, exercising one’s own voice and exploring through the creative process. Through the act of creating, a space for personal growth opens up. I place attention on the process – on content that does not impose, but invites. Various exercises become experiences that build trust in one’s own vision (a practical approach to creative work).I draw from photography, art direction, visual arts, and yoga to create a holistic approach that supports creativity, presence, and personal development. As a guide, I don’t offer answers – I open a space for questions, play, and discovery.
I’ve always seen creative expression as a powerful tool for self-development and inner well-being; especially in its simplest forms, where it feels like a vastness opens ‘around us’ and activates every part of our being. Even though life itself is one big creative act, we can deepen the invitation to self-discovery through a variety of practices.
Participants gradually uncover their own voice, step out of the familiar, and allow themselves to experiment. They find their own rhythm and different ways of creating. I look forward to this shared experience: one that is not only visual, but personal and transformative.I find value in their insights, in our exchanges, and even in the silence between the lines, because that’s often where the most important shifts begin. It fills me with joy to witness how, through visual language and the creative process, intuition awakens… along with confidence, a sense of personal truth, and the intimacy of one’s own expression. And I especially love the moment when each participant shares their unique perspective – bravely and sincerely.”
